HYDERABAD: Long hours of wait for EAMCET web counselling had many students and parents complaining at the counselling centre in Masab Tank on Monday. Noel, a student from Vijayawada described his experience at the counselling centre in one word as ‘horrible’. He came along with his sister for the counselling at 9 am on Monday. At 3 pm, he was still waiting. They need to get back to Vijayawada the same day as they do not have a place to stay in the city, said Noel’s sister. While many outstation students were concerned about getting back to their towns, those based in the city expressed unhappiness as parents had to take leave from work for the entire day. Dasaraiah, one of the parents waiting with his son at the counselling centre felt it would be much easier if timings for each rank were mentioned. “I have been wasting time here from 9 am. Neither my work is getting done nor the counselling,” he said. Other parents echoed the same sentiment. The long hours of wait however seemed to have helped fruit and icecream vendors who flocked the premises. Gangamma, a guava vendor said she sold 80 kg of the fruit since morning while others she knew had sold nearly 120 kgs and had gone home after their stock got over. The popular courses among students who attended the counselling on Monday were computer science and electronics streams of engineering.
