No question of cancelling Western Ghats report

MADIKERI: Chairman of the Western Ghat Task Force Ananth Hegde Ashishara said that there will be no question of suspending or cancelling the Western Ghat Report submitted to the state government, but a few corrections will be included.Ashishara, who was in Kushanalgar on a mass sapling planting programme at Government First Grade College, here on Thursday acknowledged the Opposition from public, political parties and various organisations on the inclusion of all the 16 hoblis of the district in the Western Ghat Protection List announced on February 5. “People must realise the importance of safeguarding nature.”He added that few townships in Kodagu included in the Western Ghat list will be removed from the list.  He said, the inclusion in the Western Ghat protection list will not affect development except dams and major mining activities in the belt.
