Chennai: The abandoned two-wheeler of scientific officer V V Radhakrishnan, who works at Kalpakkam's Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research (IGCAR) and has been missing since last week, has been recovered, police said on Thursday.
Radhakrishnan, a 38-year-old scientific officer at IGCAR, went missing on Saturday. Tamil Nadu Police started their search on Wednesday after a complaint from his wife Sheeja, who is a teacher in Kerala.
"We found Radhakrishnan's scooter properly locked at a junction on East Coast Road near Vengambakkam village on Wednesday. The vehicle was found near a bus stop. We are searching for him," Thirukazhukundram Circle Inspector S. Manickam told IANS.
Radhakrishnan's wife spoke to him Saturday at 8.30 p.m. but when she called him again at 10 p.m. his mobile phone was switched off, he said.
"She came to know from Radhakrishnan's colleague that his quarter was locked," Manickam said.
A worried Sheeja came to Kalpakkam and lodged a complaint with the Sadurangapattinam police station Wednesday and a first information report (FIR) was registered, he said.
Radhakrishnan used to bring his Goa registered two-wheeler to Vengambakkam junction to board a bus, he said.
Information about Radhakrishan has been passed on to other centres and search is on, police said.
J. Daniel Chellappa, official spokesperson of IGCAR, said Radhakrishnan came to IGCAR in 2004 and was not involved in any sensitive work.
