Amidst fears that the state faces the worst drought in around 40 years, on Monday rainfall was recorded in most places over coastal Karnataka, at a few places in south interior, and at isolated places in north interior of the state.

As per the data released by the meteorological department, Madikeri recorded the maximum rainfall of 12.8 cm, followed by Agumbe with 9 cm. Honnavar received 7 cm rainfall, while Mudibidre and Subramanya in Dakshina Kannada district received 6 cm each.

Belthangady in Dakshina Kannada district, Kollur and Siddapura in Udupi district, Gersoppa and Gokarna (Uttara Kannada dt), and Thirthahalli (Shimoga district) recorded 5 cm each. Kottigehara, Jayapura, Koppa and N R Pura (Chikmagalur dt) and Sakaleshpura (Hassan dt) received 2 cm each. Sorab and Shiralkoppa (Shimoga dt), Ballupet (Hassan dt), Santhebennur (Davangere dt), and Gudibande (Chikaballapura dt) also experienced some rainfall.

The water level at Alamatti reservoir in Bagalkot district stood at 1,673.55 feet on Sunday evening against the maximum height of 1,704 ft. Similarly, the water level at Alamatti reservoir in Bagalkot district stood at 1,757.6 feet against the maximum height of 1,819 ft.
