THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (VACB) Director Venugopal K Nair on Thursday ordered the Vigilance officials to register a case against Opposition Leader V S Achuthanandan and seven others in connection with the allotment of land to one of the relatives of VS in Kasargod. The case will be registered at the VACB Kasargod unit and first information report submitted before the Inquiry Commissioner and Vigilance Special Judge, Kozhikode, on Friday.Achuthanandan will be the first accused as recommended by the Vigilance officials who probed the case and K P Rajendran, former Revenue Minister and CPI leader, the second accused. Case will be registered also against former Land Revenue Commissioner K R Muraleedharan (third accused), Sheela Thomas, former Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister (fourth accused), Achuthanandan’s relative T K Soman (fifth accused), former Kasargod Collector Anand Singh (sixth accused), Krishnan Kutty (seventh accused) and Achuthanandan’s personal assistant A Suresh (eighth accused).A Vigilance team led by Northern range SP Habeeb Rahman conducted the preliminary probe into the allegations.
