Parents of the trainee doctor, who was allegedly raped and murdered at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital on August 9, have detailed before the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) their suspicion about the former principal of the college, Sandip Ghosh, and his top associates, including the medical superintendent and the assistant superintendent.
Speaking to CNN-News18, the father of the victim said, “We have complained against the principal, the MSVP, the super…we have told the CBI about our suspicion about each one of them.”
The parents were questioned by the CBI team for over six hours on Tuesday. The parents refused to detail what they have told the CBI, but said a case of destruction of evidence is definitely made out against former principal Ghosh.
‘DESTRUCTION OF EVIDENCE, INSIDER ROLE’
“The matter is subjudice, so I can’t tell you much about what we have told the CBI but we have held the department responsible. The CBI is investigating their culpability… destruction of evidence had happened. In our Constitution, there is punishment for destruction of evidence. I am keeping my faith,” the father said.
The mother said they have also shared their suspicion about “an insider”. The parents have alleged that arrested accused Sanjoy Roy was just a scapegoat and an insider was involved in the ghastly crime. “The agency officials have sought some time to unravel the conspiracy. We have told the CBI about who the insider could be…but I can’t reveal the details,” she said.
“CBI officials told me that they are trying to gather evidence to back our suspicion that multiple people were involved in this crime,” she added.

TORN PAGES OF A NOTEPAD
The parents said that a notepad found next to the doctor’s body is being probed by the CBI. A few pages of the notepad were torn. “We had obtained through police a photo of one of the torn pages. We do not know the content of the other torn pages. We have given the photo to the CBI,” the mother said.
The family suspects that the notepad could have been tampered with. A laptop, a mobile phone and this notepad were found next to the body.
THANKFUL TO SC AND PEOPLE
Expressing gratitude to the Supreme Court for intervening, the family said they are hopeful the status report sought on Thursday will throw some light on the direction of CBI probe. Parents said they got a call from the Governor of West Bengal on Tuesday, who also assured them of all support.
Parents told CNN-News18 that they hope the agitation started by students and doctors across the country will be allowed to continue. “We hope the agitation continues till justice is done,” the mother said.
