Walking the ramp is no strange experience for Bollywood actor and fashionista Malaika Arora Khan and she did just that with elan at a fashion show, last night. Taking the stage alongside popular models like Candice Pinto and Deepti Gujral, Malaika sported a LBD and admitted later that she is a fan of affordable dressing.
She said, “I like highly affordable and highly wearable clothes. Also it is great if clothes are total value for money.” Though the actor has a highly enviable wardrobe herself, she doesn’t mind wearing her favourite pieces again and again. In fact, she admits, “I have a white backless Versace dress that has gold rings on it. I love that dress and I don’t mind even if people say I wear it again and again.”
Time and again, turning up at events impeccably dressed, Malaika has a stunning wardrobe herself. But she admits there are fashion icons around the world whose wardrobe she would love to raid. She smiles as she admits, “Of course, I would love to raid the wardrobes of Victoria Beckham, Kate Moss and Madonna.”
On-screen, she says, she has had several favourite fashion moments and she cherishes them all. She says, “I have had many fashion moments. With different looks, different avatars and different hair every time, I love them all.” Malaika had also recently walked the ramp at the HDIL Couture Week for jewellery designer Queenie Singh.
At the fashion show organised by Major Brands, Malaika sizzled in a form-fitting black dress and a golden sequinned wrap. Talking about her favourite wardrobe staples, Malaika says, ‘I can’t go without my rings. I love them even more than any other accessory like bracelets and earrings. A little black dress hides all your flaws whether you are flat or round. A white shirt is also a fashion staple.”
Though her favourite shopping destinations are London, Los Angeles and Dubai, Malaika loves shopping in Mumbai as well. She says, “I remember when I was studying in Jai Hind College, Fashion Street was my favourite place to go shopping.” Atta girl!
