TIRUMALA:  Holiday rush continued unabated at Tirumala on Monday and as many as 63,715 devotees had darshan of Lord Balaji by evening.The queue line stretched to some 2 km from the entrance to the Vaikuntam Queue Complex. All the compartments were full when the reports came in last. According to officials, Mahalaghu is being implemented to clear the rush and it is taking 12-14 hours for Sarva Darshan and about six hours for Quick Darshan devotees.The hill shrine has been witnessing a heavy rush of pilgrims for the past three days due to a string of holidays. On Sunday alone, 1,00,140 pilgrims had the darshan of the Lord of Seven Hills.The TTD has made all necessary arrangements to meet the rush and higher officials, including executive officer LV Subramanyam and JEO KS Srinivasa Raju are constantly monitoring the situation in Tirumala. To prevent any untoward incidents, security has been beefed up.With accommodation hard to get, people were seen waiting and resting on the pavements and other open places in Tirumala.Heavy rush was seen in the bus and railway stations with outflow of pilgrims also picking up. RTC has been operating additional buses.The rush is expected to decline by Tuesday evening. The nearby shrines like Kanipakam and Srikalahasti also saw rush of pilgrims on Monday.
