KOCHI: The High Court on Tuesday directed the State Government to file a report on a woman’s petition seeking ban on the pentavalent vaccine. The petitioner had submitted that she had lost her infant to the five-in-one vaccine.A Division Bench comprising Acting Chief Justice Manjula Chellur and Justice PR Ramachandra Menon passed the order while considering the plea of AN Shajila of Thiruvananthapuram, who sought a directive to ban the vaccine in the state.She had given birth to a girl child on October 18 last year. The child was administered the vaccine within 57 days of birth. However, it caught fever and died the following day. The petitioner submitted that the post-mortem examination had revealed hypersensitivity reaction as the cause of the death.
