BHUBANESWAR: The State Government has decided to formulate an e-governance policy to facilitate its implementation in a speedy manner by different departments. Besides, policies on information technology and hardware production are also on the cards. The proposed policies were discussed at a meeting presided over by chief secretary in the Secretariat here on Friday. Secretary in the Information and Technology Department PK Jena presented the roadmap of the implementation of e-governance in the state. The Odisha Computer Application Centre (OCAC) under the IT Department with the assistance of technical consultants has prepared the draft policy on e-governance. The meeting discussed the roadmaps prepared by 21 departments for implementation of e-governance. It was decided that detailed project reports (DPRs) will be prepared by all the departments. The departments which have not prepared the roadmaps will directly go for the DPRs. Secretaries of different departments have been asked by the chief secretary to prioritise the activities of the department which they would put first put to online. Official sources said that the Rural Development department has developed a software and applied it to the accounts monitoring of different projects. The works and other engineering departments have been advised to adopt this software with modifications as per the needs of the department. Similarly, the works department has also developed a project monitoring software which other engineering departments including rural development have been asked to adopt.
