Ben Affleck Surprises Old Friend Matt Damon At 2024 Golden Globes; Video Goes Viral

Sunday night indeed turned out to be full of glamour and glitz as nominees including celebrities and stars from across the industry graced the red carpet for the 2024 Golden Globe Awards in the evening. The ceremony proved to be a star-studded affair with A-listers such as Jennifer Lawrence, Natalie Portman, Margot Robbie, Leonardo DiCaprio, and many others coming out for the evening. On a starry night, it was a heartwarming moment between longtime buddies Matt Damon and Ben Affleck that caught the internet’s attention. Matt who along with his wife Luciana Barroso was sitting inside the ballroom enjoying a moment was surprised by his close friend, director-actor Ben Affleck.

A viral video shows the couple seated inside the Beverly Hilton ballroom in Los Angeles on Sunday, January 7 when Affleck suddenly came down next to his long-time friend, giving him surprise. Matt and even Luciana can be visibly seen bursting into laughter as they notice Affleck standing in front. Later, the Oppenheimer actor goes on to clap Affleck in his back before giving him a tight hug.

After the two shared a joyful moment, Affleck sat down next to Damon and got into a conversation.

For the unversed, the two are a part of the biographical sports drama ‘Air’ and were present at the 81st Golden Globes Awards in view of the film being lined up for two awards during the ceremony. Both Damon and Affleck co-star in ‘Air’. While Affleck plays the role of Phil Knight, the co-founder of Nike, Damon portrays Sonny Vaccaro, the sports marketing executive. Damon is up for Best Actor in a Musical or Comedy for his role, while the film, which is directed by Affleck, was also nominated for Best Picture in the Musical and Comedy category. While Matt attended the event with his wife Luciana Barroso, Affleck was also joined by his wife, superstar Jennifer Lopez.

Notably, the friendship between Matt and Affleck dates back to their childhood days. They met as kids before pushing their way into Hollywood together. They also won the Best Screenplay Academy Award in 1998 for their film, Good Will Hunting. The two have been friends for more than 40 years now and it seems like they are just incredibly going strong in this journey together.

Earlier in an interview, Matt while speaking about his friendship with Affleck said, “Between Ben, my wife, and Gary White, these are the most important partnerships in my life and all of those are going really well.”
