New Delhi: In a unique doodle that stretches all across the width of the page, Google paid tribute to the great American writer Mark Twain on his 176th birth anniversary.
The Google doodle commemorating Mark Twain's birthday draws inspiration from a chapter from his 1876 novel The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, where the character of Tom Sawyer cleverly persuades his friends to trade him small treasures for the privilege of painting a fence, that Tom was asked to do as a punishment.
Mark Twain is the pseudonym of Samuel Langhorne Clemens who was born on November 30, 1835 in Florida, Montana. His travel narratives and adventure stories of boyhood earned him worldwide fame.
One of America's most loved writers his notable works include, The Adventures of Tom Sawyer (1876) and Adventures of Huckleberry Finn (1885), The Innocents Abroad (1869), Roughing It (1872), and Life on the Mississippi (1883).
Mark Twain died of a heart attack on April 21, 1910 in Redding, Connecticut.
