CHENNAI: In a tragic incident, an 18-year-old information technology student was killed when his head hit an electric post while he was on the way to college by a local train, at Tambaram on Wednesday.Sources said the victim J Ramkumar, a native of Theni district, was a first year student at MIT, Chrompet. He was staying with his cousin Rajesh at Oorapakkam. On Wednesday morning, he boarded a suburban train proceeding from Chengalpattu and Tambaram and was travelling on the footboard. Around 9.15 am, when the train was between Perungalathur and Tambaram, he hit against one of the electric posts installed close to the track. He died on the spot. On information, the Railway Police arrived and recovered the body.
