Rarest Card Types in Pokémon TCG Pocket
Ultra Rare Ultra Rare cards are most notable for their full art and their holographic golden background. There are usually only 1-3 Crown Rare cards released each expansion, and they have a low chance of appearing when you open boosters, making them the rarest cards in the game. Rarity Symbol: Crown Example Cards: Charizard EX, Pikachu EX, Mewtwo EX, Ho-Oh EX, Lugia EX, Mantyke
Immersive Rare Immersive Rare cards have alternate art and black borders around the edges. When you press and hold your finger on an Immersive Rare card, you get transported into the world of the card to see new backgrounds and animations. There are only a couple of Immersive Rare cards in each set, so they’re more difficult to find. Rarity Symbol: 3 stars Example Cards: Suicune EX, Eevee EX, Buzzwole EX, Celebi EX, Guzma
Shiny Super Rare Shiny Super Rare cards have art that takes up the entire card, and the Pokémon featured has its shiny color scheme. Shiny Pokémon cards were only recently added to TCG Pocket, so there are only a handful of these rare cards in the game. Rarity Symbol: Two 8-pointed rainbow stars Example Cards: Beedrill EX, Wugtrio EX, Lucario EX, Arcanine EX, Paldean Clodsire EX
Super Rare & Special Art Rare The Pokémon and Supporters on Super Rares fill the entire card and usually have multicolored holographic backgrounds. Special Art Rares are the same rarity, but they feature alternate art scenes and a rainbow border, so they look truly unique. Rarity Symbol: 2 stars Example Cards: Gengar EX, Machamp EX, Giovanni, Umbreon EX, Entei EX
Shiny Just like shiny Pokémon in the games, Shiny cards in TCG Pocket feature Pokémon with alternate color schemes. While the standard Shinies are more common than Super Rares, they still don’t appear in packs that frequently. Rarity Symbol: 8-pointed rainbow star Example Cards: Wiglett, Eevee, Gyarados, Paldean Wooper
Art Rare Even though Art Rare cards have the same text as their Common counterparts, they feature a multicolored border and an alternate illustration. Only a handful of cards get selected to have Art Rare variants, so they’re really desirable for your collection. Rarity Symbol: 1 star Example Cards: Houndoom, Sudowoodo, Lapras, Latios, Scizor, Ampharos
Double Rare Double Rare cards tend to be EX Pokémon that have illustrations breaking out of the standard frame. Even though these cards are more common than others, there is a smaller chance you’ll pull them from a normal pack. Rarity Symbol: 4 diamonds Example Cards: Venusaur EX, Zapdos EX, Wigglytuff EX, Jumpluff EX, Raikou EX
Promo Cards Promo cards are only released during limited-time events that run in Pokémon TCG Pocket. You usually earn promo cards by completing solo battle challenges, and they have different art and attacks than standard cards. Once an event ends, there’s no other way to get the cards, so make sure you collect them while you can! Rarity Symbol: no symbol Example Cards: Zoroark, Blissey EX, Cresselia EX, Rayquaza EX, Latias

How to Get Rare Cards in Pokémon TCG Pocket
Open new booster packs daily. You get 2 booster packs per day, and new ones replenish every 12 hours. Keep consistently opening packs so you’re more likely to find rare cards. Spend Hourglasses to open packs sooner. Every Hourglass you spend shaves 1 hour off of your wait time. Even after new expansions releases, you can go back and choose old booster packs to complete your collection.
Check Wonder Picks for rare cards you want. Wonder Picks give you a random card from a pack that someone else has opened. Check the Wonder Pick tab in the app to see if there are any rare cards available. Spend the Wonder Tokens listed, and pick a random card. If you’re lucky, it’ll be the rare one you want! Most Wonder Picks with rare cards cost between 2 and 4 Wonder Tokens. Wonder Pick tokens replenish every 12 hours, but you can spend Wonder Hourglasses to reduce your wait time.
Spend pack points to buy a card you want. Each time you open a booster, you get 5 pack points for that expansion. Pack points let you buy individual cards so you don’t have to find them randomly in packs. Save up your pack points so you can buy the rare cards you’re missing. Crown Rare: 2,500 pack points Immersive Rare: 1,500 pack points Shiny Super Rare: 1,350 pack points Super Rare & Special Art Rare: 1,250 pack points Shiny: 1,000 pack points Art Rare: 400 pack points Double Rare: 500 pack points
Trade Art Rare cards with friends. If your friend has cards that are Art Rare or lower, you can offer one of the cards in your collection as a trade. Trading usually costs Shinedust, and the price varies depending on which cards you’re sending and receiving. Go into the Community tab and select Trades. Select a friend from the list and choose which card you want to offer. If your friend accepts your trade, you’ll get a card back from them. You cannot trade Promo cards or anything rarer than Art Rare.
Check for limited-time events for new promo cards. Limited-time events happen frequently in-game, so be sure to check back daily. Events may offer bonus Wonder Picks that have special cards, or they may add new solo battle challenges that unlock promo packs when you complete them. When a limited event ends, there’s no way to get the cards afterwards, so make sure you keep playing to get the cards you want.
Collect the original 151 Pokémon to get a Mew Immersive Rare card. The Mew EX Immersive Rare card only becomes available if you get all 151 original Pokémon from the Genetic Apex boosters. Once you collect cards for each Pokémon, you’ll receive the Immersive Mew EX as an in-game mission reward.
