New Delhi: Delhi Police team on Thursday released the youth who had been detained for interrogation on the suspicion of being involved in Delhi blasts.
Mohammad Nawab Aslam, 17, had been taken in for questioning by the Indirapuram police station officers from Sector 5, Vaishali in Ghaziabad.
Aslam had left home on Thursday morning in search of work, but ended up in police custody instead.
"I dont even know about the blast, I was just going to work," says Aslam.
However, after a round of questioning, he was pronounced innocent. "He does not seem to be involved in the blasts. Even the resemblance (with the portrait of the accused) is not there," a senior Delhi Police official said.
Meanwhile, the driver and the conductor of the Govindpuri bus -- key eyewitnesses who claimed they had seen the suspect at close quarters-- are also being questioned.
Apart from Aslam, the Delhi police have also detained over 60 people in the Paharganj area alone.
Joint Commissioner, Delhi Police, Karnal Singh says, "Over 60 people have already been questioned and raids conducted at Faridabad, Saharanpur, Meerut, Muzaffarnagar and at several places in Delhi as well."
Singh also said that security has been beefed up in Delhi following fresh intelligence reports of a possible terror attack on the eve of Eid.
The police are also scouring phone records and investigating particular calls that were made from a mobile phone in Delhi to Srinagar and later to Muzzafarabad.
Working under severe pressure, a team of about 1,000 policemen are racing against time and chasing clues to find the identity of those involved in the three deadly blasts that rocked the capital on Saturday that killed 59 people and wounded more than 200.
