KOCHI: The Kerala State Cooperative Consumers Federation Ltd (Consumer fed) outlets have registered a sale of consumers goods worth Rs. 141 crore during Onam-Ramzan season in the state. At a press meet in Kochi on Monday, Joy Thomas, president, Consumerfed, said that the Onam-Ramzan market has been functioning in 5,132 centres across the state for consumers from July 21. According to him, the outlets were opened five times for consumers since July 21. He said that 45 lakh families in the state have been enjoying a bargain to the tune of Rs. 65-crore during the two-month period. Consumerfed hopes to sell all their 250 products during the season. The Consumerfed outlets have contributed much in curtailing the rising prices of essential goods in the state and they have been providing 31 essential commodities to people for subsidised rates during Onam Season, he opined.He said that the Consumer fed will also start ‘Nanma’ package to provide commodities like rice, sugar, coconut oil, dried chilly and cereals at 20 percentage reduced price. The Federation will look forward to supplying essential commodities to 600 families every week from each outlet through this package.Joy Thomas stated that Consumerfed will also start 1000 mini Trivenis in 1,000 villages under ‘Namukku Gramangalilekku Pokam’ (let’s move to villages) programme in the state. The mobile services through vans and boats will be enhanced and 10 new floating Trivenis and 67 additional moving Trivenies will start functioning after Onam. The federation will also begin new coffee houses and guest houses in Tourist and pilgrimage centres.
