Chidambaram's 'first' major terror incident
Ministry asks people not to touch unclaimed objects, alert the police.

New Delhi/ Pune: Union Home Minister P Chidambaram on Saturday night expressed his “deep distress” at the bomb blast in Pune which killed nine persons and urged people to maintain calm.

This is the first significant terror incident in 14 months. I appeal to people to maintain calm. I also request the media not to speculate and go by the official statements which I promise will be issued every four to six hours" he told reporters in Chennai.

“A forensic team from Delhi are landing in Pune tonight. I am deeply distressed by what has happened in Pune,” he said.

The Union Home Ministry on Saturday night sent an advisory to all states asking people not to touch unclaimed objects in the wake of the terror attack in Pune that killed nine persons.

The advisory has also asked people to inform their nearest police station if any suspicious objects were found, a Home Ministry spokesman said.
