BANGALORE: The Canadian International School (CIS) Bangalore organised its annual multi cultural day with activities and performances representing different countries in the world. The aim was to commemorate multiculturalism and celebrate the forming of a global society made of staff and families from more than 37 nationalities at CIS. The objective of this programme is to encourage the students to learn more about different cultures and celebrate diversity and international understanding.The exhibition held by students featured flags, posters with information about the countries, maps, other cultural displays and a wide array of items and iinformation to represent their country. The performances by the different ethnic groups such as Japanese traditional dance, the Korean orchestra, Indonesian ballads, American rock music, national anthems from the east to the west and others left audience craving for more.“This multinational crowd helps students develop a sense of tolerance and respect for other cultures. It also provides the students higher level of exposure and an ability to adapt in various environments across the world. Such initiatives help students appreciate the richness and diversity of others culture. The multicultural day proved that all countries can remain at peace under one roof,” said Shweta Sastri, executive director, Canadian International School.
