Filmmaker Anil Sharma's Dunno Y... Na Jaane Kyon was recently chosen for the closing ceremony of Kashish's Mumbai Queer International Film Festival, beating 110 films from all over the globe. The film, which is based on the sensitive issue of homosexuality, got a standing ovation at the festival.
Dunno Y... has now been selected at the iView New York Film Festival, which will be held in September 2010. Filmmaker Mira Nair is on the selection committee of the festival.
The New York festival is supported by the ENGENDERED organisation that focuses on human, women and gender issues. Farhan Akhtar, Kirron Kher, Zoya Akhtar and Boman Irani attended the fest last year.
Dunno Y... Na Jaane Kyon has been directed by Sanjay Sharma, and stars Kapil Sharma, Yuvraaj Parashar, Maradona Rebello, Helen, Zeenat Aman and Rituparna Sengupta. The film releases in India in August 2010.
