BANGALORE: The Karnataka State Federation of Valmiki Nayaka Associations started its youth federation and celebrated Valmiki birth anniversary on Sunday at Kannada Sahitya Parishat.Speaking after inaugurating the youth federation, Vijayanagaar MLA M Krishnappa, said, “Education in backward communities is very low and the communities should concentrate on education. The backward classes (BCs) should fight for their rights. Politically we are quite strong but there should be more focus on education. The government will give full support for the development of these communities.”Speaking on the occasion, Gandhinagar MLA Dinesh Gundu Rao said, “Right from my father R Gundu Rao’s term as CM, a lot of development work for the betterment of backward communities has been done. A lot of educational institutions came up and backward communities were given importance.”N Hanumanthappa, President of Karnataka State Federation of Valmiki Nayaka Associations, said, “The reservation policy in politics and education should be more. Right now there are 19 MLAs from the Nayaka communities and in future more leaders should come from these communities.”
