As Bangladesh is gradually coming out of weeks of political and social unrest with the formation of an interim government, several visuals have been coming up on Friday showing large crowds of Bangladeshi nationals gathering at the Indo-Bangladesh border in an attempt to enter Indian side.
The weeks of violence have forced people to run from the country for safety. A large number of people from the neighbouring country gathered at India-Bangladesh border and they were stopped by BSF at Zero Point.
In the visuals captured from the border, people were seen gathering at the Pathantuli border in Sitalkuchi in West Bengal’s Cooch Behar.

The Border Security Force (BSF) on Friday released a press note in view of the situation at the border. They said that the emerging challenge is primarily entrusted with the security at India’s borders along Bangladesh and Pakistan.
Ikramul Haque, a local from Pathantuli in Sitalkuchi said, “Around 9-9.30 am, a few people from Bangladesh gathered at the border. Many of them are still there. The crowd has thinned out a little now, though. Their arrival in India all of a sudden is not possible. There is a protocol for it.”

Yunus, 84, on Thursday took oath as the head of the interim government, replacing Sheikh Hasina who abruptly resigned and fled to India leaving the country in turmoil following deadly protests against her government over a controversial quota system in jobs.
Noting that Bangladesh has formed an interim government, the statement said, “We stand firmly by our policy of good neighbourliness and friendship with all people of Bangladesh.” As violence erupted after the fall of the Hasina government, China – which has over USD 25 billion in investments in Bangladesh – said it sincerely hoped that social stability would be restored soon in the country.
