BHUBANESWAR: Opposition members from Western Orissa on Tuesday criticised the State Government for the delay in the appointment of the chairperson of the Western Orissa Development Council (WODC).Raising the issue during zero hour, Santosh Singh Saluja (Cong) alleged that files had been pending in the absence of a chairperson of the council whose term expired on July 31. He alleged that defeated BJD candidates in the 2009 election have been appointed as expert members who continue to distribute funds. He sought a Speaker’s ruling on this.His party colleague Naba Kishore Das warned that people of Western Orissa would not tolerate further delay in the appointment of the chairperson of the Council. Besides, the Government has also not taken any decision on the location of the Council’s headquarters, he said.Nihar Mahananda (Cong) demanded immediate appointment of the chairperson as it had affected work.
