Andhra Cabinet Approves Lavish Design for Capital Amaravati

Hyderabad: This is how the Legislative Assembly building would look like at the heart of Amaravati, the capital of Andhra Pradesh.

The tower design by architecture firm Foster+Partners was finally approved by the state cabinet on Saturday after feedback from the public.

Baahubali director SS Rajamouli, who had been roped in for the project as well, had mooted installing a statue of ‘Telugu Talli’ in the Assembly Hall, which has also been approved by the cabinet.

Government sources said the tender process and construction work will begin in next few weeks. The government plans to complete the construction of the Assembly building by 2019.

Amaravati will have nine thematic cities — Tourism, Health, Electronic,Knowledge, Finance, Justice,Government, Sports and Culture.

Spread over 54,000 acres between cities of Vijayawada & Guntur, Amaravati will be a modern, technologically advanced, green and blue city, the construction cost of which is expected to exceed Rs 50,000 crore.

Promising to build Amaravati one of the 5 best cities in the world, Chief minister Chandrababu Naidu said, "God has given this opportunity to build the capital, Amaravati. I thank all the farmers for supporting & giving their lands for the construction of the people's capital. We will ensure that Amaravati becomes the best liveable city, a world-class capital."
