KOCHI: The Centre for Development of Imaging Technology (C-Dit) will join hands with Akshaya to open more computer education centres in the state through which major courses of C-Dit will be offered to the public. The new move is expected to bring about revolutionary changes in the IT sector of the state as even students from the rural areas will get access to the quality courses offered by C-Dit. Akshaya, at present offers various courses in association with Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) and Intel through its centres in the state. It is learnt that the move to start C-Dit courses is on the lines of the success of various certificate courses of IGNOU that are being offered through Akshaya. According to sources, six courses currently offered by C-Dit will be started through Akshaya centres. “However, a final decision in this regard is yet to be taken. Selected Akshaya centres in 14 districts will be given sanction to start the courses,” they said. The new move will be a blessing to the students who have to depend on private computer institutions even for preliminary courses. “Computer knowledge is now necessary for PSC examinations. Hence, these courses have high demand in rural areas. The new move will help Akshaya to open educational centres even in rural areas. The students and candidates in these areas will not have to pay huge fees as Akshaya can offer quality courses at a reasonable rate,” they said.
