BANGALORE: With an increase in pollution in a city like Bangalore and frequent changes in the weather, it is common for one to fall ill frequently. The immediate solution we think of is the doctor and the medicines. But here is a book which guides one to prevent diseases and live a healthier life. In his book, Heal Without Pill, Dr Biswaroop Roy Chowdhury’s has penned some remedies to keep the doctor away. Biswaroop who was recently in the city to launch his book, shared his experience in Bangalore, writing books and his favourite reads. When asked about what inspired him to write the book, the author said that he was inspired by everything around him. He said, “We see people going to doctors to get a cure of the illness but, the outcome of it is that they become permanent customers of the doctors.”The author who considers healing to be different from treatment, said, “Pills cannot help in curing the problem. Instead of curing, it creates more problems. It is human beings, who are always in search of hospitals, doctors and medicines.”He considers this book to be a tool cure or prevent minor illness. Biswaroop started his career in writing with his first book Dynamic Memory Methods which was launched in 1999 and his present book, Heal without pill is the 26th book he has written. “All my 26 books spoke of memory, mind power and health. For the new book the material was collected two years ago and it took over six months to compile and publish it.”He further added that as a child he was known to be absent-minded and also struggled to learn lengthy answers. “I started reading books on memory, mind and body and realised that even the brain is a machine which works on similar principle like any other machine. Since I am an engineer, it is a logical transition from engineer of machine to the engineer of your own computer, that is, your brain and body.”Anthony Robbins’ Unlimited power and Awaken the Giant, Dale Carnegie’s How To Stop Worrying and Start Living are some of his many books. He said, “These books gave me an insight on how the brain works and how we can use it for our betterment. I try to make my writing as simple as possible, believing that my readers may be as old as eight years, yet as innovative and inventive as possible so that even a qualified doctor and psychiatrist may also find something new through my writings.”Sharing his experience in Bangalore and the readers’ response to his books, he said, “Previously I have conducted workshops and seminars on memory and mind. The response has always been good. Bangaloreans are aware of the importance of the subjects I speak about and are inclined towards learning new things, which is similar to the experience I had while I was in Hyderabad.”Speaking about his future projects he said that over next two years he will concentrate on imparting the messages that his books carries rather than writing more. He also has plans to publish and edit the India book of records and Asia Book of Records. He said, “It is a platform to recognise the excellence in people which is similar to Guinness Book of World Records but limited to India and Asia.” “I would like to be a teacher rather than doctor,” he concluded.
