20-day race series in Mysore from August 18

MYSORE: Mysore Races - 2011 will commence on August 18 and conclude on October 23. The 20-day race series will be held mainly on Thursdays and Fridays. Mysore Race Club president K A Muddappa announced this to the media on Wednesday. He explained that 35 Bangalore-based trainers and 18 Mysore-based trainers will participate in the ensuing season. Outstation trainers are also expected to participate.  Jockeys licensed by Bangalore Turf Club Limited, and from other centres will be participating in Mysore Races - 2011. About 450 Mysore-based and  Bangalore-based horses are expected to participate, Muddappa added.He said that the Poonawalla Mysore Derby 2011 (Grade I) will be sponsored by M/S Poonawalla Stud Farms as done last year. Amount will be `30lakh, with the Club contributing `15 lakh and an equal amount added by the sponsor.
