20 Years Of Marriage And 3 Children Later, Woman Fulfills Childhood Dream of Becoming An Artist
Despite the demands of raising three children, Farhana Imam continued her passion for art and painting.

Farhana Imam, a resident of Gaya city in Bihar, fulfilled her childhood dream of becoming an artist two decades after her marriage. Despite initial challenges, Farhana’s dedication and willpower enabled her to achieve significant success in the field of art and painting. From a young age, Farhana had a passion for art and painting. During her school years, she produced numerous works of art, showcasing her talent and dedication. However, after completing her schooling in Gaya in 1993, Farhana’s family enrolled her at Aligarh Muslim University to study History, Urdu, and Persian, against her wishes.

After two years, her family brought her back home, and she was married in 1996 at the age of 19. Shortly thereafter, in 1997, she relocated to Saudi Arabia with her husband. Despite the demands of raising three children, Farhana continued her passion for art and painting.

In 2007, Farhana and her family returned to India. Unfulfilled by staying at home, she decided to pursue her long-held dream of studying art. She began searching for colleges where she could study art and painting, determined to rekindle her passion and advance her skills. She garnered numerous awards for her work in art and painting. She pursued a comprehensive seven-year education in art at a college in Chandigarh, earning both her undergraduate and master’s degrees.

After completing her studies, Farhana applied for a position as an art teacher when a vacancy arose at Gaya High School in Karimganj in 2016. She excelled in the competitive selection process and has since been teaching art while also receiving numerous accolades for her work. Her paintings have been featured in prominent locations, including the Taj Hotel in Mumbai, and exhibitions in Delhi, Kolkata, and Jaipur.

Reflecting on her journey, Farhana emphasised the importance of pursuing one’s passions regardless of life’s obstacles. She encouraged parents to support their children’s interests, advocating that aligning education with personal interests can lead to success. Her story stands as a testament to the power of perseverance and the fulfillment of one’s dreams, no matter the timing.
