'Spy Was Released Before Completion Of Post-production Work': Nikhil Siddhartha
Actor Nikhil Siddhartha shared why his film Spy tanked at the box office. He said that it was released in a hurry.

Telugu actor Nikhil Siddhartha was on a winning spree last year after both his films Karthikeya 2 and 18 Pages did very well at the box office and received critical acclaim. Karthikeya 2, which was released on a pan-India level, did better business than Hindi films like Raksha Bandhan and Laal Singh Chaddha.

Following his successful stint last year, there were a lot of expectations from his next film Spy, which was released in June this year. The film further piqued interest since the plot revolved around the mysterious disappearance of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose. The film, however, unexpectedly fell short of expectations and proved to be unsuccessful. It received mixed to negative reviews and did not make much money at the box office. Nikhil Siddhartha was reportedly disappointed after the failure but not surprised.

Recently, at an event in Hyderabad, he owned up to the mistakes of the team and revealed why the movie could not hit the bull’s eye despite an interesting premise. Nikhil said that the film was released in a hurry and that Spy was released before post-production work was properly completed.

Nikhil claimed that there were about ten days remaining in the filming of Spy when it was released. Without fully filming it, the makers hurried the post-production to get it ready for release, which is why some portions did not add up in the finished product.

He assured his fans that he will not make the same mistake again and said that his upcoming films Karthikeya 3, Swayambhu and The India House are of quality making along with good stories which will not be rushed. Nikhil had touched upon this subject earlier as well. After Spy was released in June and was declared a flop within a week, he apologised to his fans for letting them down in a tweet and promised them to be more careful about his work in the future.
