Building a Basic Fountain
Build a basic fountain. There are many different ways to design a fountain: this is one of the simplest designs.
Decide which blocks will be the edge of your fountain. This can be any block of your choice. One of the more popular block choices is the stone slab, as it provides a nice lip around the water, but you can use any block you wish.
Make a 5x5 square base.
Take out the corner blocks, for a more circular look.
Dig out the 3x3 area inside of the base.
Replace the dirt on the bottom and sides with the block of your choice. For this demonstration, Glowstone blocks will be used.
Build a column of blocks in the center of the fountain. Make it whatever height you choose.
Get a bucket of water and right-click the top of the column.
Enjoy your basic fountain.
Creating Your Own Fountain
Build your own fountain. So you have the basic fountain down right? So why not expand it and make it your own. These steps will help you add some variety to your fountain.
Decide what shape you want your fountain to be. It can be anything from a hexagon, to amoeba shape.
Choose how tall you want it to be.
Think about how many tiers and "spouts" that you want. This is once again infinitely expandable.
Decide whether to make the fountain shallow or deep.
Be creative. There are so many different designs to think about. See what you can come up with
