Colors in desserts, such as cookies, brightens them up especially for children. Forget about baking tan or brown cookies with kids and heighten the excitement by integrating different colors in the result. Try this unique take on coloring cookie dough with your next batch.
Spread a medium sized plastic wrap sheet on the counter. Add a small ball of cookie dough in the middle of the sheet.
Make a well or punctured hole with your thumb.
Drop about a drop or two of food coloring in the well. You may also use a small bowl for your food coloring dish. This is an excellent method if you want to experiment with mixing and creating different colors, such as pink or orange.
Wrap the dough and seal well.
Knead the dough until the food coloring has fully incorporated in it.
Bake the cookies as directed.
