London: Danny Higginbotham scored the second-half winner as Stoke beat West Ham 2-1 on Sunday to set up a semifinal match against Bolton in the FA Cup.

The defender fired in a low free kick that West Ham goalkeeper Robert Green could only palm onto the post and into the back of the net.

German center back Robert Huth put the home side in front after 12 minutes but Frederic Piquionne equalized with a disputed goal on the half-hour mark. The French striker appeared to control Thomas Hitzlsperger's pass with his arm before slotting home his finish.

Stoke will next play Bolton, which defeated Birmingham 3-2 at St. Andrew's on Saturday.

The winner of Sunday's other quarterfinal, between Manchester City and second-tier side Reading at Eastlands, will play Manchester United in the other last-four game at Wembley on the weekend of April 16-17.

United beat Premier League title rival Arsenal 2-0 at Old Trafford on Saturday.
