Stevenage: Former England midfielder Paul Gascoigne has pleaded guilty to common assault and drunk and disorderly charges and was fined 1,000 pounds ($1,500).
The 46-year-old Gascoigne, who has battled alcoholism, was arrested by British Transport Police at Stevenage rail station on July 4. He was originally charged with two counts of assault, but the charge involving his ex-wife Sheryl was later dropped.
Gascoigne starred for England at the 1990 World Cup in Italy and played for Tottenham, Lazio and Rangers, among others.
