Devesh Chandra Srivastava hails from the Kolghat village, Azamgarh district of Uttar Pradesh.

There has been a major reshuffle at the top-level department of the Delhi Police, which included the transfer of 7 Special Commissioner Rank officials and assigning them new responsibilities. One of these reshuffled officials is Devesh Chandra Srivastava, who has been appointed as the Chief of the Delhi Police Crime Branch. He has previously served as the Director General of Police in Mizoram.

About Devesh Chandra Srivastava

Devesh Chandra Srivastava hails from the Kolghat village, Azamgarh district of Uttar Pradesh. When he was appointed the DGP of Mizoram state in 2022, the people of his village were delighted and celebrated the occasion. They were happy that a boy from their village had managed to occupy such a high position. He has also worked as a Special Commissioner in the Economic Offences Wing, Delhi Police. He is a 1995 batch IPS (Indian Police Service) officer. Before this, he was also on deputation in Delhi Police as Joint Commissioner of Police (South), of Licensing and the Intelligence Bureau Department and ONGC (Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited).

Education

Devesh Srivastava has completed his education in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh. He has received his Bachelor of Engineering degree from Madan Mohan Malaviya University Of Technology (MMMUT) here. After finishing his Bachelor’s course, he prepared for UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) and was selected for the post of IPS.

Past Accomplishments

In 2023, he was also appointed as the DGP of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. He belongs to the Arunachal Pradesh-Goa-Mizoram and Union Territory (AGMUT) cadre of the Indian Administrative Service, 1995. The Ministry of Home Affairs, the Government of India issues the order for the transfer and postings of several high-ranking police officials.

On being appointed the DGP of Mizoram, he said he felt both privileged as well as humbled to take the baton to lead the Mizoram Police in its golden jubilee year. “Humility, honour and honesty shall be the guiding lights as we endeavour to build a future-ready, empathy-guided and professional force of proud Mizo women and men,” he said.
