The ninth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) is all set to start on Saturday, February 17. The opening fixture of the season will be played at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore with two-time winners Islamabad United taking on the hosts Lahore Qalandars. The next season of the PSL will comprise 34 games with the final match set to be played at the National Bank Stadium in Karachi on March 18. Lahore Qalandars were the winners of last season’s PSL. Led by Shaheen Afridi, Lahore Qalandars got the better of Multan Sultans in last season’s final match by one run to win the second successive title for the franchise.
As the PKL 2024 season is all set to start this week, we take a look at all details about the competition.
Format
Teams will be involved in 10 matches at the league stage in a double round-robin format in this year’s PSL. Following the completion of the league stage, the top two sides on the points table will feature in the qualifier. The winner of that fixture will advance to the final. The third and fourth-placed sides at the league stage will take part in the first eliminator. The winner of that match will face the loser of the qualifier in a bid to book a berth in the final match.
