Form is temporary, class is permanent. That is exactly what Yuzvendra Chahal reminded everyone of today, as the Rajasthan Royals’ spinner spun an unintelligible web that helped scalp three wickets against the Mumbai Indians today.

With his magical spell of 3/11 in 4 overs, Chahal also equalled an IPL record, becoming the joint-top bowler with the most three-wicket hauls in the history of the league.

Chahal, along with his opponent today, Jasprit Bumrah, are both tied on top with 20 three-wicket hauls each, followed by yet another Mumbai Indians legend Lasith Malinga, who has 19.

Following Trent Boult’s thunderous spell which took out the top-order of the Mumbai Indians, it was skipper Hardik Pandya and batter Tilak Verma, who took on the responsibility of dragging their team to a competitive position.

Pandya and Verma paired up to notch a stellar and quickfire 50-run partnership, that seemed to have breathed a fresh lease of life into the home side.

But then entered Chahal, and with his bag of tricks, the spinster went on to once again throw the MI ranks for a loop.

Chahal put on a clinic, notching up figures of 3/11 in 4 overs, to dismantle the stability that MI found in the middle and to line them up for the likes of Burger and Avesh Khan to clean up.

Despite a patient effort from Pandya and Verma, who put up scores of 32 and 34 each, MI could only muster up a sad total of 125 runs in 20 overs.

The ex-Indian team spinner Chahal would be hoping to have a loud tournament, so as to catch the eyes of selectors galore, who may consider calling up the spinner once again just in time for the T20 World Cup set to happen in June.
