England pacer James Anderson has surpassed India legend Anil Kumble in the list of most runs conceded by a bowler in Test history. Before the start of the ongoing third Test between India and England in Rajkot, Kumble, who retired in 2008, was at the top of the list having given 18,355 runs during his 132-Test career.
Anderson, the most prolific fast bowler in Test history, has overtaken Kumble now. At the time of publishing, he had 18,371 runs in his 185th Test.

Muttiah Muralitharan is third on the list with 18180 runs from 133 Test followed by Shane Warne (17995) and Stuart Broad (16719).
Anderson (696*) is the third-highest wicket taker in the history of Test after Muralitharan (800) and Warne (708).
The 41-year-old recently said he wants to exit on a ‘nice note’ and not drag out his retirement.
“I would like to be able to go out on a nice note. I don’t want to drag it out, and people are thinking: ‘Can you just do one.’ Morgs [Morgan] last year woke up and just knew it was time to call it a day. I am just hoping that is the case,” Anderson told The Telegraph.
“I feel privileged to have got in a position where I can make a decision because, as a bowler, it is usually taken out of your hands with injury or selection. It will be nice to go out on my own terms, but when that will be, you just have to wait and see,” he added.
Anderson is gunning to become the third bowler in history to have taken 700 wickets or more in Test history. He’s the second-most capped player in the format’s history. Batting legend Sachin Tendulkar is at the top of this list having played a record 200 Tests during a storied career.
Anderson is part of England’s squad in India for a five-match Test series which is currently locked at one-all.
