Former Indian cricket and long-standing star in the Indian Premier League, Ambati Rayudu shared his take on who should lead the Chennai Super Kings once MS Dhoni steps down from the role.
MS Dhoni who is 42 years old has been part of the Chennai Super Kings franchise since its inception in 2008 and has been the skipper as well leading them to five IPL titles along with 2 CLT20 titles as well.

Rayudu who was a guest at the popular YouTube podcast, the Ranveer Show, was asked if there have been talks in the CSK franchise regarding the post-Dhoni era. The batter responded, It’s scary but, ideally, it should be Rutu (Ruturaj Gaikwad), so let’s see.”
Rayudu also added that there would not be much of a difference in the post-Dhoni era. He added,” I still see him with CSK in some capacity, holding things together. I’m sure it will remain the same, the core culture and what CSK is about.”
Many have been speculating regarding who the next captain should be for the franchise. Ravindra Jadeja had been handed down the role of captain during the 2022 season but after a torrid run where the side lost six out of their eight games, the all-rounder stepped down from the role with MS Dhoni leading the side once again.

Since then the side managed to win the 2023 edition with Jadeja hitting the winning runs against Gujarat Titans in the finals to make it their fifth title equalling rivals Mumbai Indians.
Now the side will look to revamp their squad with the deadline for announcing their retentions coming up on November 26, 2023. This will be followed by a mini-auction where franchises can look to bid for players who have made themselves available for the IPL as well and make use of the additions in their bid to get their hands on the title once again.
