Rohit Sharma was left heartbroken on Sunday night when his stroke hundred against Chennai Super Kings went in vain. The former Mumbai Indians opener carried his bat and notched up his second IPL hundred, Chasing 207 at Wankhede against the defending champions. He returned unbeaten on 105 off 63 balls, including 5 sixes and 11 boundaries. However, he started running out of partners towards the end of the chase as MI were restricted to 186 for 6 in their designated 20 overs and lost the game by 20 runs.

Rohit was left devastated as his hundred couldn’t take MI home. Neither he raised his bat after reaching the milestone nor did he smile while bagging the awards in the post-match presentation. Meanwhile, a video surfaced on social media in which he was seen walking past the CSK players who were in the middle of the customary handshakes.
Several reports suggested that Rohit cut a forlorn figure and walked past the CSK contingent without a handshake after suffering a fourth loss this season. However, Chennai skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad’s Instagram story quashed all rumours about the incident.
Gaikwad posted a picture, originally shared on his wife Utkarsha Pawar’s account, in which he could be seen shaking hands with Rohit after CSK won the game by 20 runs.

Rohit produced his only second IPL century and first since 2012, hitting 11 fours and five sixes during his 63-ball knock. But his magnificent effort did not get adequate support from the rest despite the pitch at the Wankhede Stadium remaining conducive for batting.
After Dhoni hammered three consecutive sixes in the final over bowled by Hardik Pandya to race to 20 not out off just four balls to propel CSK to a huge 206 for four, Pathirana grabbed 4 for 28 to halt the chase of MI at 186 for six.
Defending champion CSK’s first away win this season also marked a fourth defeat for Mumbai Indians in six matches, keeping them at the eighth spot. CSK, on the other hand, rose to the third with eight points in their kitty.
