First the F1 GP and now it's time for the general assembly and awards of Federation Internaionale de’l Automobile (FIA) to be held in India. The event starts on 5th December and concludes on 9th December 2011. Taj Hotel, New Delhi will be witness to the crowning of champions from Formula 1 to those of other FIA-certified events such as World Touring Car, World Rally Championship, World Karting, Asia Pacific Rally and Formula Two.

The president of FMSCI, Vicky Chandhok, said, “FMSCI now has a very active interaction with the FIA. India has also been a beneficiary of the Facilities Improvement Programme (FIP) grant and the Officials Training Programme (OSTP) grant from the FIA Institute in the preparation of a master plan to upgrade India’s existing facilities in Madras and the training of Indian officials respectively. On the back of the success of the FIA Formula 1 Championship conducted this year, the next target for the FMSCI is for India to host a round of the FIA World Rally Championship and the CIK World Karting Championship”.

Dr Vijay Mallya who happens to be the Chairman of FMSCI, has worked closely with the president of FIA, Jean Todt, to bring in this event to India.
