There were also several posters which depicted images of crosshairs locked on PM Modi’s face along with other anti-India propaganda posters which cops also removed from the site.

Law enforcement in New York arrested a Khalistani protester and stopped another group from breaching the ‘Free Speech Zone’ after they tried to disrupt Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s community event in New York’s Nassau Coliseum.

PM Modi on Sunday addressed a mega gathering of Indian-Americans where he discussed what steps his government is taking to turn India into a world leader while thanking the gathering for strengthening people-to-people ties between both nations.

However, according to local media reports, a Khalistani protester was arrested and a similar group was forced to relocate to a designated “free speech zone”.

Cops also removed provocative propaganda from the vicinity of the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum. They removed banners with sniper rifle scope with crosshairs locked on PM Modi’s face.

The Nassau County police officials also removed Khalistani group Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) propaganda placed on the road adjacent to the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum.

Sources speaking to CNN-News18 said that this propaganda was done by the SFJ and Khalistani groups against the government. They also said that violation of zones are serious concerns especially when foreign leaders or dignitaries are visiting.

They also said that there are ‘only a handful of Sikhs’ who are working with Khalistanis.

They said that Khalistanis are trying to influence the US government by projecting that they are a minority who are also a strong voting bloc.

However, the sources said that the US government is ‘serious about India-US ties’.

“They will not allow anything which will embarrass both governments. They gave full security to PM Modi,” the sources said.
