A recent video by an Indian YouTuber has taken the internet by storm as he compares the general class train experiences of China and India. Shubham Kumar, known as Nomad Shubham on YouTube, took viewers on a journey aboard a Chinese general train compartment, revealing striking similarities between the two countries’ general class trains that many Indians would find relatable. The snippets of his journey are doing rounds on X. Since being shared, the video has gathered nearly 7 lakh views so far.
In the video, Shubham shows the atmosphere inside a Chinese bullet train. Passengers maneuvered around cramped spaces with some seated and standing near the washrooms, a sight commonly seen on Indian general class trains. Yet, he quickly notes a few key differences, such as the presence of air conditioning and automatic doors – features that are not available in Indian general-class compartments.
At one point, he captured a scene of a passenger lounging under a seat, humorously labelling it as “extreme level.” He also remarked that the seats were not as comfortable as one might expect in bullet trains, with some passengers even bringing their own chairs and buckets onboard.

Another added, “For those who all compare the infrastructure to China, it’s not about infra. It’s about how people use it. And being such a large populous country, whatever you do, how much transportation you add, the cheapest one will be attracted by crowds.”
