US Teen Suffers Severe Burns After Trying Viral DIY Sugar Waxing
Sugar waxing is an old hair removal method that has been once again rediscovered. It is the process of making a thick wax by boiling sugar, water and lemon juice.

According to ITP Live, a 17-year-old US teen named Allison Boles severely burned her hand while trying the latest DIY sugar waxing trend. She was diagnosed with a severe second-degree burn that took her over four weeks to heal. Speaking to the US-based media channel Kennedy News, Allison’s mother revealed that her daughter was making the sugar wax that she had seen in a viral TikTok video.

She added that while swirling the mixture, the sugar wax allegedly popped, causing the hot mixture to fall on her daughter’s thumb. She further explained that when her daughter raced to the sink to rinse off the mixture, the heat from the substance had already caused her skin to peel off. She said that it was fortunate for Allison that the doctors were already aware of this trend, as this is this hospital’s second case involving sugar wax.
