This Man's Marketing Technique To Attract Brands Deserves A Moment Of Its Own
An Instagram user, sitting at home with his helmet on, became an unexpected sensation after summoning the big brands to take over his comment section.

Going viral on social media often involves crazy stunts, celebrity appearance or trending content, like a song or dance. However, a recent internet sensation proves that sometimes, all it takes is nothing. Cameron, an Instagram user, sitting at home with his helmet on, became an unexpected sensation after summoning the brand gods to take over his comments section.

In a December 2023 Instagram post, Cameron challenged himself to make a purchase from any brand that dropped a comment on his post. Despite not being based in India, his comments section was flooded by Indian brands like Swiggy, Medimix, Domino’s Pizza India, Netflix India, Zostel and Hotstar, among others. What started as a fun post has turned into a humorous financial challenge, as the unexpected brand comment might lead him to possibly go bankrupt.

The video features the user sitting on a chair with his face covered by a helmet. Remarkably, he never would have anticipated that the post would become a viral sensation. Despite never revealing his face, the post has reached other parts of the world, far from his home. Since the post was shared on the platform, the video has garnered over 29 million views and left social media users shocked by the unpredictability and reach of Instagram’s algorithm. The overlay text in the video reads, “If a brand comments on this video, I’ll buy something from that brand.”

Skoda India jokes, “Reached here late, stuck in traffic.”

Swiggy Instamart mentioned, “Jab itna kharcha ho hi gaya hai toh ek chips ka packet bhi le hi lo. (When you have already spent so much, just go ahead and get a packet of chips too).”

Canva asserted, “You can draft your bankruptcy paperwork in Canva Docs.”

Meesho shared, “Sahi quality, sahi price me sab kuch laga diya hai humare biker dost ke liye. (We have provided everything for our biker friends at the right quality and the right price).”

Medimix added, “Here to help bring out your natural glow for that face reveal.”

Zepto humorously wrote, “Man’s cart is overflowing.”

“Let’s take that helmet for a spin,” suggested the official account of TVS.

Bira 91 wondered, “Looks like you need a BEER.”

Vadilal Ice Creams shared, “Ice cream lijiye. Thakk gaye honge saare brands ke comments padhke. (Have some ice cream. You must be tired of reading comments from all the brands).”

A credit card company jokingly mentioned, “Hmm, seems like you’d need some credit and EMI options.”

As of now, it remains unclear whether Cameron has kept his word about the challenge and made a purchase from any of the brands that commented on his post. However, the post has left social media users entertained and amused.
