With over 30 years of experience as a taxi driver in Melbourne, Charanjit Singh Atwal has undoubtedly encountered numerous situations and faced various challenges on the job. However, it was a recent incident that garnered attention and admiration from the public.

In an Instagram post shared by the page @bramalea.rd, Atwal recounted the incident with a reporter. He mentioned that finding items left behind by passengers was not an uncommon occurrence for him. Yet, on this particular day, he stumbled upon something significant – around 8,000 Australian dollars (approximately Rs 4.53 lakh) in the backseat of his taxi.

Despite being presented with a tempting windfall, Atwal’s commitment to honesty prevailed. Without a second thought, he took the discovered cash to the local police station, ensuring it would be safely returned to its rightful owner.

When asked if he expected or received a reward for his virtuous act, Atwal humbly responded, “No, I don’t need a reward.”
