Actor Abhay Deol has teamed up with emerging international EDM artist PIA in the visually striking music video Follow the Toad, directed by filmmaker Joe Sill. The video, shot in a single day using cutting-edge virtual production techniques, transports viewers to a fantastical world inspired by iconic adventures like Indiana Jones and The Lord of the Rings.

Talking about his the virtual production experience, Abhay Deol said that in acting, tools are crucial for bringing characters to life. However, relying on green screens and imagining environments can be challenging. He said, “One challenge that often disrupts the process is the reliance on green screens and the need to imagine the environments or obstacles being portrayed, rather than directly interacting with them. In the case of ‘Follow the Toad,’ a virtual production leveraging Unreal Engine technology, this barrier was easily overcome. By immersing myself in a digitally-created world, I found it easier to connect with, and to respond to my surroundings, despite their purely virtual nature. And thus, this breathtakingly expansive video came to life!”

On working with Abhay, artiste PIA said, “As my first solo project, both in terms of film and music, it was a surreal experience. Abhay is a true master of his craft.”

Last week, Abhay Deol made a splash on Instagram feeds with his latest pictures. The actor turned fans’ weekday into a “Thirst Trap Thursday” with a series of “Not Safe For Work” photos, featuring him lounging on his bed in low waist, beige pyjamas. His shirtless pictures left jaws dropping. In one snapshot, he lay on the bed with his back toward the ceiling, while others featured him wearing a beige top, each capturing different expressions on his face.

Meanwhile, Abhay Deol, earlier last month, completed nineteen years of his acting career. The actor, who made his debut with the film Socha Na Tha, took a trip down memory lane during the occasion and said “feels like it was only yesterday.”
