Chain snatching is one of the most common forms of robbery, with thieves employing various cunning tactics to deceive and assault people. Such incidents have frequently occurred in open public spaces like railway stations, roads and parks. Recently, a concerning video circulating on social media showed a chain snatcher targeting a woman in broad daylight inside a restaurant. This incident took place at an eatery on Tahseel Camp Road in Panipat, Haryana. The CCTV footage from the restaurant, which went viral on social media, has left many people shocked to see such an incident happening within the perceived safety of a restaurant.

In the clip, a man with a helmet is standing close to a table where a group of women are having a meal. He is disguised as a food delivery executive who pretends to be collecting food orders from the counter. The video shows the man waiting for the opportune moment to snatch the chain before swiftly running out of the door. His unexpected act leaves everyone confused. A staff member can also be seen coming out of the kitchen and trying to chase the chain snatcher. As per the CCTV footage, the incident took place at around 3:40 p.m. on June 8.

This is not the only incident where thieves have stolen from a restaurant. Back in May, viral footage showed a man entering a restaurant and targeting two elderly men engrossed in conversation during their meal. The thief discreetly sits in the booth next to them and reaches into one of the customer’s pockets. After securing the mobile phone, he promptly leaves the restaurant.

DCP East Jodhpur commented on the video and wrote, “The concerned have been directed to take necessary action and expose the matter soon.”
