In an era where discrimination is under intense scrutiny, aa tech industry’s notice banning maids and delivery executives from using the building’s lift has gone viral on social media. The notice, reportedly from HITEC City in Hyderabad, has sparked a heated discussion online. The image circulating the internet shows a stern warning: workers caught using the lift will be fined.

“If maids, vendors & delivery boys use passenger lifts, Rs. 500/- will be fined,” read the notice. The picture quickly gained traction, drawing a wave of public comments.

One user recounted, “I went to the main lift with a plastic bag with my food and was in my casuals, the security came to me and asked me to use the service lift as I was a delivery boy… I had to tell him that I was staying in my company guest house.” Another commented, “This is alarmingly common in so many residential buildings in so many cities. And residents say the vilest things to justify this nonsense, and even after repeated complaints against such segregation, no action is taken against anyone.”

A third chimed in, “This is pathetic, I had faced such issues. Delivery boys R also human being, we can’t discriminate people through their salary. How can they climb 4th or more floors throug stairs in this scorching heat or weather? With Cylinder or anything? Spread love & stop discrimination.”

Others offered explanations, calling it a half-truth. “It’s the half truth. Such societies have service lifts. Reason why these people are not allowed is that they stall the lift which creates a problems for the residents,” one user noted. Another added, “Bro there will be a service lift beside. I have seen this in many places. Because vendors carry materials they usually keep seperate lift.”
