Man Claims Uber Eats Delivery Agent 'Stole' His Order, Here's How He Got A Refund
An X user exposed the terrible customer service from Uber Eats after the company refused to offer him a refund for an order that the delivery agent did not deliver.

Dealing with food delivery apps for refunds may be tedious, especially when you have a legitimate reason, like incorrect orders, missing items, or spoiled food. Some food delivery apps often have policies that make it difficult to get refunds, and contacting customer service representatives and automated chatbots just makes things even more complicated. Experiencing a similar situation, an American man took to X to expose the terrible customer service from Uber Eats.

The man, identified as Michael, informed that his order, which did not arrive at its destination, was considered ineligible for a refund. He posted screenshots of his conversation with Uber customer service representatives, who refused to offer him a refund for an order that the delivery agent did not deliver. Despite Michael’s continuous efforts and requests for a refund, the agent clearly dismissed his appeals.

“Yo Uber Eats, Uber Support. I’ve never seen worse customer service in my life,” Michael exclaimed, sharing a series of screenshots of the chat between him and a customer service agent.

Further expressing his disappointment, Michael shared about the lack of assistance he received upon attempting to take the issue forward. “Tried to make another inquiry, got connected to the same outsourced agent, and he immediately closed the support ticket… Shameless,” he shared.

The tweet ignited a wave of uproar and went crazy viral, with many suggesting switching to DoorDash or Deliveroo instead of Uber Eats. In just two days, the tweet has been viewed by more than 14.7 million users and reshared by over 5,900 people. X users took to the comment section to share their take. Several asked Michael to get a free subscription or sue the company instead of settling for just a refund, while others echoed the same concern about poor customer service in hundreds of comments.

There were some who said that if refunds are requested too many times by customers, Uber may deny further refunds. To which Michael clarified that the only times he has asked for a refund was when the order never arrived or the order was incorrect.

“Talk to them on the phone. They are way more likely to refund that way. happens to me a lot with Doordash because these people keep giving me the wrong order,” suggested a user.

Michael responded that the agents say the exact same script to him over the phone in some outsourced warehouse where he hears 30 people talking in the background.

After several phone calls, chats with the agents on the app, and especially the viral tweet, Michael shared that Uber Eats had refunded him.

Uber Eats is a food delivery platform available in several cities worldwide. It is owned and operated by Uber Technologies Inc. and was launched in 2014.
