Whether it’s a car, bike, train, or plane, many designs draw inspiration from the shapes of animals or birds. For instance, a plane’s design mimics the streamlined form of a bird, featuring a pointed front to cut through the air effortlessly. Similarly, a yacht has recently embraced a unique source of inspiration – a shark. The concept of a shark-inspired superyacht, aptly nicknamed ‘Outrageous,’ has been making waves on the internet, capturing the attention of enthusiasts and experts alike. The brainchild of the renowned Italian design studio Lazzarini, known for its innovative and unconventional watercraft designs, this megayacht is estimated to cost over 1 billion dollars (around Rs 8298 crore).
The Outrageous yacht boasts a sleek, aerodynamic design inspired by the distinctive hammerhead shark. The shark influence is evident in the design of the windows, which replicate the creature’s sharp and terrifying teeth. Reportedly, a second layer of glass reflects the appearance of gills, adding a nuanced touch to the overall aesthetic.
This gigayacht is an impressive 322 meters or 1,056 feet in length, featuring a massive top deck with a silhouette that mirrors the hammerhead shark. To enhance the resemblance, the yacht has been painted in a striking grey hue. The vessel offers a double helipad for the convenience of elite guests, ensuring a seamless arrival or departure. Notably, the helipads are designed to retract when not in use.
The upper deck of Outrageous boasts five swimming pools, solar panels, rooms and tenders at the stern, and ample lounging areas. The attention to detail is evident, making the yacht not just a mode of transportation but a luxurious experience. While the Outrageous concept is still in its conceptual stage, the projected production cost for a potential client is around £860 million (over Rs 9,000 crore). The sheer scale of the yacht necessitates the use of a golf cart to navigate its expansive interior.
While Outrageous remains a concept for now, its potential realization promises an ultra-modern and opulent seafaring experience. However, even if brought to life, it is unlikely to be available for commercial purposes, making it an exclusive venture for the world’s elite.
