Interviews are always daunting. Candidates prepare for days for every interview. They prepare commonly asked questions, search the web, and make sure of their preparation before each interview. However, no amount of preparation is enough. The interviewer always has something new in the bucket to through at the candidates when it comes to unique questions. Yet, this boss has found a unique way to test the candidates to hire for his sales engineer team.

This boss, viral on Reddit, took the candidates for a night out to check their integrity. He took them out for a drink and offered them an entertaining time. Behind this facade remained hidden the actual test. He offered the drinks to the candidates, made them go drunk accordingly and started assessing their behaviour.

Recently, a job seeker took to social media to share his once-in-a-lifetime experience of such an interview. He shared the controversial strategy of his interviewer. According to him, the interviewer took this test when hiring candidates for his sales engineering team.

He said on Reddit, “I interviewed with a company recently who told me about their process for interviewing sales engineers. They would go about the normal interview, but that evening, they would all go out for drinks and try to pump the recruits full of alcohol.” He further explained, how the top executives the top executives of select candidates for their sales engineer. The interviewer took the candidates out for drinks. In the sales business, drinking with customers is a common event to consider.

He added, “It was meant to be fun, but also a test of whether the person can either know their limits and politely decline, or hold their own after a lot of drinks. Drinking is a big part of sales and one has to prove their emotional strength.”

The real test behind the entertainment was to check if the candidates could maintain their polite behaviour after they got drunk. Some of the successful candidates went through the test. They met every unique criteria of the employer. Some of the candidates got rejection after they got too drunk to even complete the interview.

This controversial interview process has caught the eyes of some of the job seekers on the internet. A candidate on Reddit has explained how smartly declined the offered drink as he did not like the smell of beer. With this controversial interview process, the interviewer wanted to check the tolerance, composure and mental strength of the probable employee when finalising deals is the top priority.
